Graduated from the department of Chinese literature in the Faculty of Letters, the University of Tokyo.
1967
Graduated from the Graduate School of Letters, Nagoya University.
1969
Began to teach at the Faculty of Liberal Arts, Saidama University in April, until March 1978.
1978
Began to teach at the Faculty of Sociology, Hitotsubashi University in April, until March 1981.
1980
Published 中国前近代思想の屈折と展開 [The turns and developments of premodern thought in China].
1981
Received a PhD.in Literature.
1981
Began to teach at the Faculty of Letters, Tokyo University in April, until March 1993. Served as chairman at the Association for Studies of Chinese Society and Culture, Tokyo University; member of expert commission at the Japan Association of Chinese Studies from 1981 to 2001.
1985
Published 李卓吾―正道を歩む異端 [Li Zhuowu: a heretic that walks on the right path].
1989
Published方法としての中国 [China as method].
1989-1993
Served as visiting scholar at Tsing Hua University in Taiwan, and UCLA in the US.
