“Circumgyration” is a project using photography as the medium to explore the reality, memories and truth. It is composed of five sub-projects: Dengkong Project, Lausong Project, Koganecho Project, Hudong Project and Fengjing Project.

Since the early days of his career, Chen Chin-pao 陳敬寶has been exploring different aspects of photography as an art, and became noticed through a series of documentary portraiture, A Moment of Beauty: Betel Nut Girls. He then works on different projects: Circumgyration explored the ambiguous boundaries among reality, memories and truth through photographing people’s writings and poses; Heaven on Earth deals with the issue of life and death by photographing small shrines and tombs that stand right next to ordinary people’s houses, using “the house of residence” as a metaphor. His latest project Ordinary Household records contemporary Taiwanese domestic life. In 2008, Chen received Overseas Photographer Award issued by the Higashikawa Award in Hokkaido. He currently lives and works in New Taipei City, Taiwan.
